Importing Drawing Styles
-
I have a drawing style I imported when I had a previous Form Font subscription and want to import it from an old file to a new Sketchup drawing. How can I do this?
Thanks

Well, according to FormFonts "subscription" (as it is a subscription - as long as you pay, you can use the downloaded stuff - not purchasing the content), you should not do that (not as if I liked such a business model - no wonder I do not subscribe...).
Technically? Open the file and save the style inside it...

re: Saving a style file in general.
Open the Styles dialog.
Open the secondary pane by clicking on the little + with the arrow head below it in the upper right corner.
Set the primary pane to In Model. Click on the little house icon.
Set the secondary pane to the style library in which you want to save the style.
Click and drag the thumbnail for the style from theIn Model pane to the secondary pane.As to whether or not you should/can use a style from Form Fonts, I won't comment because I don't know anything about their agreement.

Thank you... I learned something new today.

Well, as for FF "EULA":
- Payment.
You acknowledge that access to portions of the Website and the downloading and use of Licensed Content is only available to paid Subscribers.
As a Subscriber you are paying for the right to use the Licensed Content in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement. You have not purchased and do not own any Licensed Content downloaded from the Website. You have the right to use the Licensed Content only while your subscription is active and in good standing. If your subscription should be terminated, suspended, or cancelled for any reason, your access to the Website and to the use of any Licensed Content shall cease and you shall cease from any further use of any Licensed Content, including the use of any Licensed Content previously downloaded and stored on your computer for any purpose whatsoever.
9. Term; Termination.(a) [...]
(b) You may terminate this Agreement at any time provided you cease all use of the services and Licensed Content provided by Form Fonts and you destroy or remove from your computer, networks and other storage media all copies of any Licensed Content in your possession or control. If you choose to terminate this Agreement prior to the end of a billing period, your account will maintain active through the end of the billing period.
Well, this means that practically speaking, you are just "renting" the content...
Just in case you wish to act legally a bound to this agreement that you made with FF when you "signed" it.As said, I myself would not like such an agreement but that's just me. Alan (our respected member here who happens to be one of FF artists and content providers) may chime in later and shed some further light.

So basically for the professionals out there it would not be a good idea to use a form fonts model in professional work unless the modeler intends to keep a lifetime subscription. Of course I guess a professional modeler would only use his/her own content. Sounds like a lousey deal to me!!

Well, for a "so called" professional modeller it may be worth using these models/styles/materials whatnot... You can always keep it in your final product like renders, animations etc. that you have already "sold" to the clients.
And do not forget that most (well, "all") of these models are very high quality. As low poly as possible without to much visual compromise, all faces are correctly oriented, no "litter geometry" inside and all those nuances that make a huge difference between these and an average Warehouse model where you must start with cleaning up first and if it is a really crappy model, you may spend more time on it than if you started from scratch. And a "professional" modeller is professional because he is modelling for money - and time is money.
So all in all, there is a circle of modellers to whom it may be worth this subscription system.
(And let's not scold FF too much as we have a bunch of nice people here who are also FF artists)
