SketchNoob introduction - or whatever you call us ;)
-
Hello everyone. My name is Burt and finally downloaded Sketchup yesterday and working through the tutorials. I used 3D a little in school a couple years back but haven't touched it since. I wanted to get started and see if I can enough skills to be able to do some freelance work.
I went back to school about a year before the big economy bubble burst, worked in a Flash studio for about a year and then we ended up getting laid off. Now I work at a construction company doing marketing and design work - mostly magazine ads, web site design and tradeshow banners. It's stable but not the reason I went back to school.
So now, married, one kid and soon to be 53 and in many ways still trying to become a 'real' artist or at least make my living with art. Hopefully not too late.
This is what I did so far
I also spent about an hour looking at the chair tutorial for beginners and trying to figure out how to use arrrays to make the spokes of the wheel. Finally got it and made a quick video with Jing for any fellow novices http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpMqQIjcGmw

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome - and for the age assurance.

Hi Burt,
Welcome to SCF. Good job on the cart and the video.
FWIW, you don't have to hold Ctrl for the copy function. It is a toggle sort of thing.

Welcome, It's NEVER too late, take it from me, I'm 10 years older than you. You already have a great start.

Never too late (to repeat the gentlemen above). I was not a teen-ager when started with SU (and my background is something completely different - until then Word and Excel was my utmost tools)
So welcome to the SU addicts' club.

Thanks again. I'll be a regular as I am motivated to learn.
