    Hello,
I am currently doing some research for a paper I am writing. The title of the paper is:How has the use of 3D draughting software evolved and how has it affected the way in which Interiors are designed and built today? The paper is part of my final BA Hons Degree project. I would greatly appreciate if you could spare 10 minutes to answer my short survey. The survey is aimed at people who use 3D draughting software to design interior related projects. This would include Architects, Interior Architects, Interior Designers, Interior Decorators, Visual Artists (CGI), Kitchen Designers, Furniture Designers etc.

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and appreciate your help.

    Regards,

    Robert

      Hey Robert,

I'm not part of your target group so I won't take your survey, but I think one of the most significant changes brought on by easy-to-use 3D products like Sketchup is that it puts very powerful design tools into the hands of un-trained people. This is good an bad of course, but the ability for a home owner to create renderings of a planned renovation allows them to get a good sense of what they need before they engage professionals. In some cases, amatuers can avoid the use of architects or designers. These professionals often bring very valuable insight and experience to a project, but they may be needed less in some cases with these powerful tools in the hands of the regular people.

        Hi Robert,
I did your survey and glad to see that you took my advice and posted on the forum, especially since you anticipated my suggestion by two days! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜†

I think Erichf has a good point about these tools in the hands of non-professionals, but they can be guided to be a positive experience if they are cooperative and work together with you and not get an, I know it all, attitude. The tool is only a tool and can't replace the training in detailing, codes and practice that a profesional brings to the table.

        Good luck on the paper!
