Split an object into sections

Hi all
Does anyone know of a plugin that you select an object and split it up into sections by X amount.
Fredo bend doesnt seem to work with the object i have so the only way I can think of is to but an intersect every X mm so it can bend it perfectly for engineering use. Its a straight piece but need it at 45 degree bend.. if anyone knows of a quick solution it would be appreciated.
