Good Morning Everyone! Name is Erik and I teach 6th Grade. I have a very unique group of students this year and have been taking our measurement unit in a new direction into engineering with SketchUp....I honestly am sort of ok with the program and even have been "schooled" by a couple of my students with functions within the program.

We encountered a unique issue yesterday with one of the groups trying to design a new model drawing of a smartphone they came up with. They wanted rounded corners on the phone, but we were all stumped. We Googled for suggestions and help, etc. We came across this fourm and Fredo6's what appear to be amazing PlugIn function tools. Here now lies my problem.

I run a Mac platform in my classroom, both on laptops and my desktop in the classroom. For the life of me (all last night) I could not figure out how to download and apply the plugIns????? Can someone please give me step by step instructions on what link to download the plugin, how to save it in the appropriate place on my machines/in sketchup? I would love for them to get on this asap so your knowledge and help would be really amazing...

    Cheers,
    Erik

      Hi Erik,

Very likely on the Mac, you'll need to open the ZIP and copy the files with their file structure to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/Plugins. It might be that you'll need administrative access to do this however. After you've installed the plugin, open SketchUp. If you haven't got the Plugin menu displayed, go to SketchUp>Preferences>Extensions and check the boxes there. Under View you should find the option for turning on the toolbars (pallets) and Round Corners should be there.

It is important that you maintain the exact file structure of the plugin because the .rb file will be looking for a specific folder for its references.

      Good luck.

Well, Dave, I was going to give Erik a link to one of your replies, but you beat me to it. 👍

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

So Dave, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly...

When I open the zip file... It opens up what I guess I would call coded info (is that the text structure you speak
of? I would highlight all of that and the copy/paste it?

          Cheers
          Erik

Erik, below the text area where you are writing your post, there is an attachment tab. You can upload images there.
