Problem shaping a revolver grip.

Currently creating a revolver, but having problem with the shape of the grip.
Created a flat grip and used Follow Me tool to create rounded edges.
Lots of weird shapes around corners and other tight places.
Selected all and intersected faces with model, but that didn't work too well.
Is there another way to create such a shape with round edges?
The larger the round edges, the more overflow shapes.

Yes, when the angles are too sharp, follow me can twist into itself (or what). Post that file and probably what Rocky says; round corner can help...

Thanks, this means there are a light in the tunnel.Downloaded Libfredo first and extracted it to plugin catalog.
Tried to download roundcorner plugin, but winrar error message: "unexpected end of archive.".Downloaded an earlier version of roundcorner plugin that worked,
but either I don't understand how to get rid of excessive faces and lines in the plugin or it may not work properly in this case.Excited to see if anyone have a better result here.

Hi,
In this case, I would draw the profile. And then draw around with the follow me tool. Than make a copy and flip it. The space between close with the push pull tool.

Tigs excellent Extrude Edges by Rails gives a very nice effect.
The shape will vary depending on where you place your arcs, so all sides need not be the same.

Hi folks.
As you have dicovered in this thread, the "Follow me" Tool gives better results when the profile is followed outside the path instead of inside.

Sorry , have a question as usual.
Often a grip is made of 3 pieces, there is an internal frame like structure, then the two "grips' that sometimes bolt on to the frame part. These grips maybe oval etc in cross section and then taper in closer to the top end.
Question is are you working on the center part or the total grip. If the total grip then is concentration on the round over leading you astray vs skinng, lofting etc that could give a better overal "grip" or is it a part of a more complex model.This is what I was thinking . It obiously needs more work. It was done with Soap, Skin and Bubble -

This was (for me) a new way of using follow me tool, and I see this in fact gives way better result than my way.

By following the superb advice to create follow me shape on the outside instead of inside, I will not bother with different thickness of the grip.
Since I'm planning to be able to show the mechanics inside when the trigger is pressed,
the revolver is in 3 main parts where a frame is in the middle and then a plate that covers the mechanics which again the grip is connected to.I'm not using sketchup so much for building design, but much more for intricate mechanics and the physics of moving parts.
For example disc brake system on a motorbike from the lever to the brake itself with all the hoses and nozzles.
