Why all this promoting of SDS2? Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing, but you guys delete posts regarding other software when it is too biased. Over the last week there have been several of these posts, all in dire need of their own topic for some reason.

I think you as moderators should watch out for this behavior [as you have before, with other posts] and maybe keep the SDS2 posts all in one topic.

I take your point on the name appearing in alot of posts. But maybe it's the fact that we've been given permission to showcase what we've modelled using the tool. It's more our excitement in sharing than actually promoting. I for one get no gain from doing this. I just want to show what is achievable with SDS2.

Pretty soon this place will be inundated with crazy stuff from new users and we're also able to offer some advice on the tool.

Also Dale has approached management and sought permission to announce and promote his product here. Other threads we've removed have failed to take this approach and this is against the TOA of SketchUcation.

I hope this clears things up? But if not feel free to report this thread and others as spam.

Nice skullpting Rich! These Artisan gems just keep popping out, and I love them. I am going to buy this talent-plugin as soon as it is released.
Remembering that you have advised folks to try to model a skull in Blender, I knew it was just a matter of time before you posted your own. Your model, that is.
Keep up the good work! πŸ‘

There is no need for that, I was just expressing my worries about it looking too much like promotion. But since it isn't, all is good πŸ˜‰

                  OT

Forgot to mention it the first time, but the model looks pretty good πŸ‘

Thanks, that Blender tut proved useful after all!

no worries, you were right to voice your concerns if you felt that way. But rest assured we're chomping at the bit to show the community what this beast can do for SU

                      great result!!

[edit] HFM: we've all been gagging to show off our models made with Artisan....the reason why there's been a sudden boom of Artisan threads because we've only just been given permission to release any images.....i think its a great thing, now everyone can see this highly anticipated plugin. It's not like we're spamming viagra prescriptions lol

I think your avatar needs the artisan treatment! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜„

A nice start for a scull sculpting. πŸ‘
About blender, we can't compare this app with this useful yet simple-to-use plugin now, should we?
@HFM, its not promoting, the point is that SDS2 makes clear what the limits of SU are, it pushes the limits. If we'll start posting SU modeling using the default tools only then this forum will die. It happened to other forums. Unfortunately...

                          [OT]
Hugo, don't forget that Dale (Whaat) has published some amazing plugins here for completely free, too. We have always been more "forgiving" and "tolerant" with such contributors when it comes to their commercial plugins, too.
Or even look at the "promotion" of TT's Vertex Tools on The Daily CatchUp page:
                          http://news.sketchucation.com/
I would even give him better exposure in the light of his generously shared other plugins!

So to speak: this is a win-win situation. These authors get their promotion and the community (not SketchUcation!) gets a bunch of excellent (and free) plugins in exchange.

No, it's not a comparison. It's more utilizing the techniniques in a Skull tutorial to test if SDS2 could achieve similar results. This didn't get the same result but made the process alot easier than it was before.

You're talking about box modeling, I suppose so. A set of tools for this purpose is what's missing now. A real move tool. Dale tried for this but we need something more flexible. Something that moves parallel to camera without snapping. Subdivisions and move tool should respect symmetry.

Hey, don't speak so soon. The plugin isn't released yet.... maybe you'll get one of your wishes yet!

Sorry dale for this, these news are great though. Its this about promoting SDS2 complain that made me upset. I don't promote anything. I just like to share what seems interesting to me.
