Plugin for a ship hull
-
hello,
i'm modelling a ship hull, and i used different plugin to formed it but it doesnt follow with the form, i used soap and skin but when i made it skin, it doesn't follow the form of the hull but form like a tensile structure, when i added pressure it seems like a airship rather than a hull, can someone help me look for a free plugin for doing this ship hull.

You could look at TIG's Extrude tools and Fredo's Curviloft both of which are available here.
Keep in mind that no matter which plugin you use, you'll end up with triangulation of the surfaces which may show up in your model. You should be able to get something that looks better than what you've got, though.

Some useful feedback on hull modeling here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30776&p=270806&hilit=delftship#p270806

hello,
i watched this video recently,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5XBa9xoKp4&feature=related
i'm doing the method he is doing although the difference is i'm using sketchup and the one that he use in video is solidworks.
is it possible to do in curviloft, or can you suggest a plugin similar to the one uses in solidworks
i've seen the one done by fredo the galleon ship and it seems similar to what i have done but fredo is using berzier.rb but i dont know how he done that one.

Could you post your model so that I can have a look and tell you if Curviloft can help.
For my Danish frigate, I used the original Bezier.rb script(by @last Software) and the sand box.
Here is a link where I explain what I did

hello fredo,
i uploaded my model in 3d warehouse, here's the link:

although i already applied it with curviloft but i don't know if it is accurate because i didn't applied it with berzier.rb, the surface of the hull seems not totally smooth and you will see it if you hidden the edges and add shadows you can visible the division of the contour(i'm referring to the contour of the ship hull).
Sorry for the model, it is not totally finished and some of it was not layered when i uploaded it. i just layered it recently.
can i asked what is the berzier for?, and how you made hidden the contour division, it seems not visible on the hull.

I think you applied Curviloft section by section.
If you wish to have tangential continuity, you should try with all vertical sections at once (or at least a large part of them).Bezier just refers to these smooth curves, also called spline. You can use the native SU plugins (bezier.rb) or my script BezierSpline. This is to draw your hull sections.
To hide contours, just use the Sketchup Soften dialog box.

Hi, fredo
sorry if i reply very late. i don't get what you meant about the tangenal continuity and i should do it with vertical section once. but it seems good if i will apply what you said. can you show me some photos how you did the ship hull using curviloft? I know that where using both the same process i used the body contour of the ship to make the hull but it is by section. you made the hull as a whole without any visible ship body contour. i know you're the one can help me about this fredo.
thanks
