Yeah, I've got a spider model that could use a spray paint effect on its body. The markings are so freeform and colorful that I do not know what render program could accomplish this. So, a tool like your idea would be great. While you wait, look up images of Leucauge Venusta Florida Orchard Spider. Or not. Hope somebody comes up with something.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

I you can natively import skp files into Photoshop cs4 and above, and then use the 3d tools there. I'm not 100% but I'll check. Here is a video of the painting tools.

Please do, I'd actually like to be able to export a component to Photoshop, paint it then return it to SU.

i'm using cs5 and don't see .skp available - however, .dae, .kmz, .3ds, and .obj are, so it shouldn't be too complicated to export and import back, right?

If indeed Photoshop can do this and able to import .skp, then maybe we can get a plugin that can export component with a right click menu option.

Could be awesome if it works.

Having something like Deep Paint 3D inside SketchUp would be pure awesomeness.

I think .dae, obj or some other format needs to be used. No .skp import in CS (Design premium).
