Custom slicer/slicemodeler needed : custom angles
-
Hi everybody and happy new year.
I have played for a few weeks with Slicer from TIG and its modification Slicemodeler to prepare a mockup for a project I am working on.
However I was wondering how difficult it would be to add another axis to the slicing code in order to move from square cells to an isogrid like structure. It would have more structural integrity after applying epoxy and glass fiber to the model.
I don't know if it is possible to change the angle to 120° instead of 90 and run the process 3 times instead of just 2.I don't know if I should have posted this message in the developer area but since Slicemodeler and Slicer were discussed here I thought it made more sense.

To make Slices make an X set, rotate the group/component 60 degrees and make another X set, rotate another 60 degrees and make another. Rotate the sliced copied back together...
To have 'slotted' version you need to speak with that plugin's creator directly... SUp v8 now have boolean operations built in so theoretically you could shift one set half way relative to another and 'slot them' that way ? -
Wow, that was a quick answer. Thanks a lot.
I tried contacting "asteronimo" but he doesn't seem to be active since last september that is why I asked the question here.
Your method works really well. I just have alignment issues with some shapes because I am not really mastering the move tool ...
Well I have to go see how the boolean operations work now before I ask again for help, or look for a custom plug in developer !
