Ha thats great, have you ever tried any of the 3d sculpting tools such as zbrush or mudbox anyway? I cannot wait for SDS2 now!
-
I have tried the demo versions, took a while to get a basic understanding of the Z-brush sculpting UI, navigating was awful as I'm so used to SU.
Never bothered to really get into it. -
Pete, the Force runs strong in you. Pass on what you have learn. -
I will try, I guess you need OCD to do this kinda thing.
Update, Added eyes rounded face a little (jowls), and started with neck.
-
Just a few month ago, I wouldn't have believed something like this would be possible in SU...
Pete, you sure take SU to another level with Whaats SDS2 plug-in... -
Absolutely agree with Frederik
This is great and unbelievable to watch. -
Thanks, I'm enjoying SU again.
Light saber from warehouse (3mb )
-
How "heavy" is Yoda?
-
Without light saber 3.1mb
-
-
It is a little high, I will reduce when I have all detailed mesh done.
-
Are you going to use Deep Exploration for that?
-
I will first try SDS reducer (new version) if that does not reduce as I like then DE.
-
Hi Solo.
I really enjoy seeing your work, but with you talent and patient why don't you try (really really push yourself) for zbrush or mudbox for this kind of projects? I would love to see what you could come up with a specific tool for this.
I'm not very experienced in this software's but mudbox it's much easier to pick up than zbrush, but zbrush feels better and much more inovative, but in all honesty they both are really good in this field.
-
The thing is these apps cost money, I cannot justify spending that money to play, unless I could convince myself and wife that learning Z-brush will help me find work that requires such software.
I use Sketchup daily, and when not working I play with SU, so for me I'd rather see a sculpt tool for SU that I can use for what I need, and the new SDS2 is the tool that changes SU.
If only we can get UV tools next, then I could map textures better than this:The side view is all stretched..
-
why not do a tutorial dvd on this.. proposed it with with Lynda.com or do your own. this is indeed a nice stuff.
-
hey Pete, awesome stuff. I know you rather do this stuff in sketchup. But if you want to try some other software which is free.
Try Sculptris: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=090617
It's now part of Pixologic (makers of zbrush) but it's free and from what I've heard it's really really easy and fun.
Blender also has some great sculpting features.offtopic I also made a Yoda sculpt recently. My second sculpt in zbrush ever and only had a few hours.

I believe he is familiar with Sculptris.
But... your second sculpt? In a few hours? Looks amazing. -
Indeed Sculptris is a very fast way to model organic shapes. I was amazed.
Attached image made in a couple of minutes, first time when I used Sculptris.
Please don't laugh of my model it was just a foolish try and I had no idea what I want to do.
-
I've done this model with poser 7
