            Hi Solo.

I really enjoy seeing your work, but with you talent and patient why don't you try (really really push yourself) for zbrush or mudbox for this kind of projects? I would love to see what you could come up with a specific tool for this.

I'm not very experienced in this software's but mudbox it's much easier to pick up than zbrush, but zbrush feels better and much more inovative, but in all honesty they both are really good in this field.

The thing is these apps cost money, I cannot justify spending that money to play, unless I could convince myself and wife that learning Z-brush will help me find work that requires such software.

I use Sketchup daily, and when not working I play with SU, so for me I'd rather see a sculpt tool for SU that I can use for what I need, and the new SDS2 is the tool that changes SU.
If only we can get UV tools next, then I could map textures better than this:

The side view is all stretched.. 😉

hey Pete, awesome stuff. I know you rather do this stuff in sketchup. But if you want to try some other software which is free.
                  Try Sculptris: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=090617
It's now part of Pixologic (makers of zbrush) but it's free and from what I've heard it's really really easy and fun.
Blender also has some great sculpting features.

offtopic I also made a Yoda sculpt recently. My second sculpt in zbrush ever and only had a few hours.

I believe he is familiar with Sculptris. 😄
But... your second sculpt? In a few hours? Looks amazing. 👍

Indeed Sculptris is a very fast way to model organic shapes. I was amazed.
Attached image made in a couple of minutes, first time when I used Sculptris.
Please don't laugh of my model 😳 it was just a foolish try and I had no idea what I want to do.

It's strange that there is no history of paid tutorials on Sketchucation. Maybe it's because SketchUp is so easy to use? But for some people, like myself, who only use Sketchup every so often a index of moderately priced tutorials would be welcome. Especially considering the complexity of some of the work that is shown on the forum, like Solo's. There are paid tutorials all over the modo forums. Prices run between $25 and $200 depending on length and complexity. I have to assume that the people who produce them make a few bucks because they keep making more.

If Solo makes a SDS2 tutorial, I'll buy it. (I don't actually know what SDS2 is but ...)

                            You're a talented man pete. 👍

About navigation in zbrush or other apps. You, SU users... its [y] in zbrush, [turntable] blender, [lock y] or just [lock] to other apps.
To have a different xyz navigation is useful when sculpting, sometimes. No comments for tex projection though, you don't have to do this.
