SketchUP interaction with AutoCAD
-
Recently I was on the Land8Lounge in the Sketchup forum. I started a discussion on the LandFX plug-in for Sketchup. ( http://land8lounge.com/group/sketchup/forum/topics/land-fx-plugin-for-sketchup?commentId=2025679%3AComment%3A299218&xg_source=msg_com_forum ) I got a respose back from a user who had used the plug-in and commented that bringing a landscape design into Sketchup thru LandFX plug-in worked fine for the plants imported into SU. However if a sidewalk or a wall that was created in Autocad was modified in SU that come time to export the finished drawing back to AutoCAD thru the LandFX plug-in this did not work at all. I see this as an integration issue between SU and Autocad not the LandFX plugin. And as such I would like to see this problem corrected by Google's SU design Team.

I've never used the plugin but it looks interesting. I have nothing to do with fixing this sort of stuff, but just from reading your description, I'm not sure it's clear what exactly you'd want SU to do. You say you don't see it as a plugin issue but it seems very much like a plugin issue. What makes you think it's not an issue that the plugin developer needs to solve? What do you think SU could do to fix the issue?

Steve, I took a quick look at LandFX's pages, and from what I understand, the SU to Acad and back via LandFX only works with the planting models that are in the LandFX libraries. If so, I can think of 2 ways to swap non LandFX library elements.
One way is to build, and place the element into the LandFX library. The other is to use SU's import dwg or dxf files of that element directly from Acad as a block.
