Question: Scenes
-
Hi to All
I have a question. I teach senior citizens in the use of a PC and I made a little animation to show the inner life of a PC. In Scene 6, I just want to show only the main board. But if i hide the rest of the model all the other scenes show also only the main board. Is there any possibility to do this?

That is curious
Seems if you used layers visible / invisible in each scene that must works
so motherhead on layer 1
scene A layer 1 visible
scene B layer 1 invisible
Scene C layer 1 visible -
Charly, Pilou is right. You should use layers for controlling visibility of the various component/groups. The layer visibility settings will be stored as part of the scene, then.

Thanks Pilou and Dave for your answers.
I have less experience with scenes. Would it be presumptuous to ask you to take a look at the file. I've done so far but the view in the other scenes is not in order.

Charly, I got your e-mail and will try again with the download. I see it is 22 Mb which is much more than my little machine at work can handle so I'll have to wait until I get home.

Ehm... There is a big "Download" button that took me on a tanga site with hardly dressed ladies.
(The "real" download link is the fine print at the bottom)
Edit; not really tangas.

Glad I didn't click that button!
Charly, here is a thing I've done related to using Layers and Scenes. Perhaps it will give you some ideas. This link shows how I set up an animation using layers and scenes. Except that you won't have multiple copies of the same components, the idea is the same.

So here is the file:
http://www.gaieus.hu/su/skps/SCCKurs.skpI did not make a clean job as I put everything in that computer on a separate layer but there is also loose geometry in there (never do this; it's just for demonstration purposes).
There is a new scene there where this layer is turned off so you only see the motherboard.
Here is an example model on the same technique.

(but glad my wife was not in the room)KH: I guess that's a rotating ad.

Hi Csaba,
Funny! If I open this link I see this. Perhaps you are hungry and your imagination played a trick on you.

Addendum: When I press the download button I do not see any scantily clad girls! Damn where are they?
-
Thank you very much Csaba,
that is exactly that what I need.

Csaba, my daytime "wife" is always "in the room" so I try to avoid those sorts of sites. I don't want to get kicked out of the "house".
-
KH; as I wrote, it was just a "dirty" job as I put ungrouped geometry on another layer than Layer 0 (and this should be avoided as bad practice).
The "cleanest" way would be if you grouped each hardware piece separately and put on its respective layer then you could easily create whatever scene you wish.

Hi Csaba,
I must confess that not all of the individual models are my own, Most of them I have downloaded from the Google Warehouse. The idea with the scenes came to me later. If I build a model, I consider it very much how it should be structured. But thank you again for your trouble. It is always a valuable experience.
