The correct expression would be "again!" πŸ˜„
(in the stone age there was a short-lived release of version 12 - that was before AutoCad was available for Windows, if I remember right)

Now we want 3DS Max, Revit and Inventor (which I'm positive will come).

What's the cliff notes version of LT vs the full app?
            And price difference?

The $4,000 gets you the full 3D experience, but then so does Rhino, for a quarter of that price. And SketchUp, for a quarter the price of Rhino! Right now, I'm happy enough being right here with SketchUp. πŸ˜„

I'm afraid DraftSight really does suck. 😒

Why? It's still in beta and Linux version is under development.

Works fine under Win Vista 64bit.

That's because it was probably written for Windows in the first place using the QT framework. QT is pretty horrible. Not to be confused with Quicktime- something completely different. QCad is a better 2D CAD system imo, but QCad is also written in QT.

On a Mac, DraftSight is slow and stodgy. It's great that it is free, but that's where it stops. AutoCAD for Mac is a far, far better system than DraftSight, it's just a shame it costs so much.

Well I am not a programmer, so I can't judge whether Qt framework is horrible or not πŸ˜„
We will see what Dassault and Graebert can do with DS in future...

And there is still one Mac friendly cad system - VectorWorks. VW price vs power ratio is far far better than for Autocad...

I don't know about the Mac version but the difference between LT and full for PCs is that LT doesn't have 3D and you can't program the application like you can with full. But the 2D functionality of LT is essentially the same as full. Price difference - $4 for full, $1 for LT.

It doesn't really matter if you aren't a programmer, Qt just has a very different approach in its interface, to how OSX works. If you are a windows user, you won't notice much difference. Having said that, the file system in DS, is much better than that of QCad, but then QCad hasn't seen an upgrade in ages 😞 But on Mac, DS crawls. Fortunately there are good alternatives like PowerCADD 8/9 and Highdesign, both designed to work on the Mac. πŸ˜„
