Thank you for congratulations and comments.
Yes. It was quite an effort, considering that we both have done this alone. Some practices have had ca. 10 persons involved for the same job. Our third man couldn't support us.

I want to thank Chris Fullmer for his random rotation script that has made all trees look differently on the masterplan. It simply converted them from the 'stamps' into something visually more diverse.

I think we have used also one of SU treelines generously posted by Richard! Thanks!

I must also write that I have been surprised how current version of the Layout has dealt with exporting the images. I have had bad experiences with old versions but 2.1 worked without a single problem\crash. Images were exported flawlessly at 300dpi (B1 sheet - 0,7 x 1 m).

EDIT: BTW you can see 1st Prize here

Are you sure you used SU for plans? Furniture, doors... they are all SU? 2D or 3D?
I really never thought of using SU for the final layout like this. Usually it is AutoCad, PS...
Very interesting that SU can do all the work. How hard is the workflow?

                        Tomasz,

I've been to Auschwitz/Birkeneau and in my humble opinion, your design is superior to the winning design because I believe your design captures the mood of the place. The winning design could be built anywhere and memorialize any event. To me it had no soul.

                        Best wishes,

                        Allen

We have used SU only for Master-plan (urban-design) and elevations. Plans haven't been created in SU. They are far too complex.

Our idea was to create something that has very close in relation to the structure of the camp. The schematic on the sixth board shows it. We wouldn't propose such a layout somewhere else. The jury has written that the courtyards we have created might be, in their opinion, too small for the volume of people visiting the museum. In our opinion it was necessary to keep the spirit of the place and proper relationship to the height of the surrounding buildings.
