Unwanted text display through opaque faces

The annoying habit of leader text displaying through opaque surfaces, no matter how many, no matter how far?? My guess, of course, is that they are transcendent entities, without time or place, bestowed by the wisdom of their creators with this ability for some similarly transcendent purpose, like getting one to go Pro... No, wait, please, someone tell me. (I know they may be on an undisplayed layer and be made invisible.)
It would be nice if there were a advanced setting like that for dims allowing a greater measure of control over such things.
