USA! What a game and what a fitting end to what has already been a crazy World Cup for the Americans! I can't wait to see what happens this weekend..

So go Germany, OZ, USA and England.
Hey, I called it!!
All the teams I wanted to win, won.
-
justice has been done to the american team. In the game against slovenie they scored a goal who was been cancelled by the referee. Yesterday also a good goal was once again cancelled by the referee. Both where good goals and must count.
In this case was it more than normal that the American team qualified for the 1/8 round. And then they meet Ghana so i think America is qualified for the 8 best teams this tournament.Today The Netherlands must let the world see that they are the team to beat on this event. Cameroon is out and the game to watch is Denmark vs Japan. In the other poule everything is possible. I think Paraquay and New Sealand are going further.
-
The cup holders Italy are out, beaten 3:2 by Slovakia, oh dear, Slovakia played well, Italy were just not good enough in the first half but came out in force the last 20 minutes.
New Zealand also go out, without losing a game in this world cup.
-
Portugal vs Brazil, a game I have been waiting for, they have only played each other once before in a world cup and Portugal won 3:1, so lets see how things are going to pan out.
later we see if Spain get through, gonna be a great day of soccer.

Football you kick with your foot!
I've seen a lot of 'hand of God' moments that could put the whole 'foot' thing in doubt.

..we wanted give'em some advantage to don't hurt too much...
hey but we expected at least 15 minutes extra time ...ooooh s**t -
What a boring game, this is what happens when there is no threat of going out based on another game being played.
Brazil were slow and boring, Portugal had no real attempts worth mentioning.
I picked the wrong game to watch. If I was a paying spectator I'd demand my money back as this was a purpose driven waste of time, the only action was from the ref in the first half.
What's up with Ronaldo, taking pot shots from almost the halfway line, is he that good or is he that selfish?
-
0 -2 so far first half
it is not just
CHILE is playing very well and SPAIN have been too lucky
see what happens 2º half
bet for a draw
edit :
well We Both got by -
First day of the knockouts.
Uruguay are through beating Korea and will face Ghana in the quarter finals.
The USA vs Ghana game was a nail biter, going into extra time where Ghana scored the winning goal, The pub I was in was packed with USA supporters and at final whistle it cleared out faster than a fire drill.
Tomorrow morning England square up with Germany, this should be epic.
-
To say England were poor would be a little off the mark. Defensively, they were ripped apart. Upfront, they suffered from poor crosses, passes and ideas.
As for Lampard's goal! If that had been ruled in then it was going to be epic as Peter suggested. I thought England's 2nd half performance would be classic British Bulldog stuff. But hats off to the Germans. They played with real zealous and looked like a team well up for it!
Argentina v Mexico next....
-
maybe they wanted to take out MEXICO as soon as they could
no news on México now the better the better
would the FIFA got to that stage ?
makes me thrill
and wonder about being Spain the one to win this championship
why Spain ?
or who other ?what is in DEAL on this Championship where even the ball has been proved to not hit directly but waving, as Maradona said ???
-
It's quite ironic in a way. The 1966 world cup that England won (against Germany), one of the goals that WAS allowed (came off the cross bar and then bounced down) and I'm pretty sure its been confirmed (using "Goal directed metrology") to NOT have crossed the line.
Two games today and two more reasons - not for "goal-line technology" but - (IMO) for a wimbledon-style ability of a team to dispute a linesman or ref's decision (only say two or three times during each half) and have it unquestioningly confirmed with video analysis - be it a ball crossing the line (or not) or a goal created via an offside pass.
EDIT: More evidence supporting the need for "goal-line technology" - referees with histories of bad decisions:

Oh crap, the head hurts. Aspirin just does not cut it.
4:1 to Germany, 4:2 in reality IMO. A great win, a convincing win, and a hard next game vs Argentina next Saturday. I do not think my liver will make it, nor my wallet
Had a great day, made some new friends, probably some enemies (I was all dressed up in German paraphernalia)
Picture of my youngest boy all kitted out.

Today is the day for the Netherlands, now should this team must show the world where they are capable of.
Against slowakije they are warming up for the next game against Brazil on friday.
The supporters from Holland are in a good mood.So let the game begin.
My predict for the games today
Netherlands - Slowakije 3-1
Brazil - Chili 2-0
-
Half time and the dutch are leading in this game, so far slowakije doesn't afraid the dutch defence. The only missing link in this game, is the fact that de dutch don't score more goals.
But perhaps the second half is going better. -
Holland win as expected, but not very pretty, substituting van Persie and Robben was a gamble IMO, thankfully it worked out.
Slovakia broke the back four a few times which should concern the coach as if they face Brazil later this week they need to keep the back line solid.
Slovakia took a few chances but do not have the depth in experienced players to really pose any true threats, Brazil on the other hand will, so let's hope Holland can switch themselves from idle to amazing next game. -
Half time and it's looking like a Brazil victory, Chile's defense has broken down. The Netherlands have got a huge obstacle now as it seems that Dunga's team have hit prime form, this is the Brazil as we know them.
Very much like the difficult game Germany will have against the favourites Argentina.
