Sweep a curved shape around the z axis
-
Hi, I searched the forum here abnd found many ways to do this but I can't get it done myself sofar.
I am trying to sweep a curve around a z axis to shape a vase without a bottom or top. Very simple actually but it the extrede edges plugin's keep asking me to select curves and rails without any effect.
Any help appreciated,

Use Extrude edges by Lathe

The simplest way to do this, (unless I am mistaking what you want to do) is to use the follow me tool. Draw a circle on the x/y axis, then draw the shape you wish to sweep. I used the offset tool and then connected the side at the top and bottom so that I could then erase the inside of the vase and the top and bottom. Select the circle by right clicking, and using the follow me tool right click on the vase shape. It will sweep for you and create the vase from the shape you have drawn.

Further to Dale's post, if you don't want a top and bottom when you are finished and want a single skin, draw the profile as in his first image and draw the circle at the bottom as he has shown but make its radius match that of the bottom of the profile. Also leave the face of the circle. Add a circle at the top which is the radius of the topmost point on the profile and in contact with the profile. When you run Follow Me, it will delete the faces of the circles leaving no top or bottom.
