Exporting animation crashes SU 7.1
-
Hello I have just tried to export an animation from SketchUp it is 42 scenes long the transition time is 2 seconds and the file is 55 mb. As soon as I save the file and click export the program crashes has anyone else had this problem and Is this a known bug the SketchUp team is working on.
Thanks,

I have this same issue in 7.1. I have a 110MB file with a lot of PNG face-me landscape and its also around 40 scenes. It will not animate and just crashes. I took the file home to my personal computer that has 64 bit Vista and 8GM of RAM (not sure if sketchup even cares about that considering its 32-bit) but it exports the animations with no crashes on 7.1. I contacted SU Support but they didnt really tell me it was a known issue they were fixing. They told me to reduce the size of the model or I could try using 7.0 again to see if that works. Not really the answer I was looking for. SU is a great, no, **really **great quick modeling program. It is by no means a great animation package though. I'm getting to the point where I have to look at some other software to do animation and rendering as part of my workflow. I have pushed SU to its limits I'm afraid.

This is a major problem for us. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Now would be a great time for the google team to chime in. We have relied on this program to make flythroughs of our models for clients and we cant just accept that it is broken. What do we need to do? Is our file too large? Too many scenes? Or is it a bug? Help Please.

Could you try to export in smaller sections? Like 1-10 then 11-20 etc.
Also, if you are exporting straight to a video format, try to export into image sequences instead. In that case, SU only needs to keep in mind (memory) whatever is in one image, not the whole video for final compilation (this may indeed be some memory failure and as SU is a 32 bit application, it will not be able to utilize more than 2 Mb of memory). -
Thanks for the assistance. Sorry if I have caused a disturbance, the problem is now fixed. It was an issue on our end and has nothing to do with SketchUp. So sorry for the false alarm . Thanks again, this forum is always a great help.
