Is there a way to tell what reg file goes to what program? I'm trying to install a program but it keeps telling me a newer version is already installed but no search can find it so i thought it might be in a reg file left over? i have to say, it's driving me mad...

There are several free or inexpensive tools you can download to 'clean the registry' - try Piriform's 'CCleaner' Registry tool... http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Have you also tried to uninstall versions of the program with the the Programs Control Panel ?
