Angle question...
-
Hi,
Is it possible to copy the angle properties of a surface to an object so that the obect can then be placed onto that surface? I have a wall and the edge of the wall is angled but I want to attach an object onto it's edge. I want the oject to be angled the same as the wall so that they lineup correctly.
I hope you understand what I mean.

I think I know what you mean, but perhaps attach a sketch?
Let me try. select and copy the edge of the wall. move it onto the object. select the object. select the protractor tool. move it to the center of where you want the object to rotate, rotate the object to align with the copied edge of the wall.
or make the object a group or component. move it to the wall edge and align it as required. then using the move tool hover on the component until you see the prompts for rotating. click and rotate the object to align.

Hi Mitcorb,
Thanks for the reply.
All sorted!
I copied the edge of the wall and placed this directly beneath the object. I then used the protractor on the leading edge of the object but pointed this at the other end of the copied wall angle. Worked like a treat!
Thanks for your help - yes, maybe I'll get some images next time as these things are hard to explain(!)
All the best,
GO.

Hi GO,
You can always make any set of geometry into a component that glues to faces. In the attached screenshot, I set the component to glue to any but there is the possibility to choose horizontal, vertical or sloped, too.
Then you need not hassle with alignment any more - just bring in the component from your component browser and place it on the face - it will "adjust itself" automatically. -
