is there an easier way or plugin to draw planes for use as drawing or cutting planes. in my image i had to change the axes twice then draw an upside down triangle normal to the adjacent faces then draw in my plane then delete and reset axis. all so i could create this reference plane to use for placing and trimming rafters. would be great to have a reference plane plugin (very powerful).

even if we could get an extrude edges along normal function added to the projection toolbar would help a lot. 😄

Unfortunately one can not do this to affect native and other plugins. You'd also need to recreate a full set of tools to work on the place.

TIG has that 2d tools plugin, but I think it only work on Ground Plane (or parallel). Unless it's been updated since last I looked at it. Maybe his can be tweaked?

it only seems to have a zplane tool 😢 and you can't even fool it by moving the axis.

This would indeed be useful. I use the Extrude Lines by Vector tool to create my own drawing planes all the time to avoid snapping to unwanted points. Since we can't turn off inference, then we need something to shield the drawing tool from snapping to what's beneath the reference plane.
