Render this: Neon cube

Thanks Oli, but I'm waiting for one of your well known awesome render of transparent objects.
I would but......"Please wait, processing model..."
i've had 100 MB files that process quicker, what's going on?!

Hey thanks Frederik, I checked out the thread, and of course new questions arise. Why exactly is there a need for 2 meshes; one emitter (low poly) and one fake emitter (high poly)? Doesn't the 2nd layer add lots of triangles again to the model? Also, the question still remains why this model is composed of all groups, shouldn't it be all components since there are lots of repeating parts to this cube lamp?

I suggest that you post these question in a seperate thread or at the TWR Forum in order not to hijack this thread...

Nope...
That's why you need to apply a "fake emitter" to the high-poly parts...@dutchesse said:

Yes and no...
Obviously the person modelling this can make components instead of groups, but for this model I can't see it matters much... -

...Some discovery in hypershot...

Finally I got round to doing it!!
It's late afternoon, the sun's going down and we need some light.
Unbiased Twilight Render. Cooked overnight.

Nice athmosphere there Oli. Perhaps the transparent material it's a bit dark?
-
Awesome hypershot urgen..some procedural lights?
Wow! Oli, Awesome! Definetly you're the twilight master, love the mood!
-
yeah you are correct!! I don't know why it turned out like that. I used the common realistic glass template, perhaps the refraction is too high for this type of glass hmmm
cant be bothered rendering again!!
cheers dspace! hardly a master, I dont know half the program yet!!

Ok, I'm far from a pro but this model just screams to get rendered .
This is my (amateuristish) attempt. Didn't have much time to set it up though (my boss keeps reminding me that i have a deadline for that paper I have to write ), but I'm quite happy with the result so far.
(Kerkythea, preset 20, 65 passes)
Oh, almost forgot: many thanks to the guys who made Kerkythea !

The first thing that came into my mind is that it looked a bit like a space ship docking station. Hence the death star and the star trek voyager ...
My job isn't writing letters, i'm actually a career coach. (But I have/had to write some reports concerning a european project I'm participating). English isn't my mothertongue (that's Dutch) so my appoligies for the misunderstanding
Did I already mention that it's a fantastic model ?
Do you have more stuff like that? It's actually more motivating trying to render good models than the models I (attempted) to put together myself.

...ok .For hypershot funs specially....It is not my idea...
...copy this<experimental>27</experimental>
...and paste it in
C-->Documents and Settings-->All Users-->Bunkspeed-->HyperShot-->hypershot.xml
... Open program and you will see 6 new experimental materials...
...Include Emissive here...
...enjoy it! -
hey,
Thanx urgen. BTW I like your quote "pupil for ever"
