{paint bucket - F/boards) in different directions
-
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum as well new to SU. I'll probably ask questions that seem basic but I have a lot to learn.
I asked this question a few days ago but it hasn't appeared so I'm trying again.
1/ How do I get a picture from my computer on to my profile for the avitar?
2/ I'm laying the floor with materials from the 'paint bucket' - floorboards. With them going in the hallway, lenthwise i.e. north to south. I then want to lay them in the kitch
en - west to east, but they all only go in 1 direction. I've tried different tools etc., but have failed. If it can't be done is there a plugin with more materials or methods to do this?
Look forward to any answers.John

Hi John and welcome!
To have a forum picture, go here and upload one. Make sure to size it according to the limits you can see there.
http://forums.sketchucation.com/ucp.php?i=profile&mode=avatarAs for the rotation of the texture...
- first of all make sure to have the floor of the room and the kitchen on separate faces (you need a doorstep or just a line to separate them).
- Now right click on the kitchen floor > Texture > Position.
- When the positioning pins appear, right click again > Rotate > 90 degrees.
- When done, press Enter and you are ready.

Great Gaieus, that's another problem solved. floorboards will be correctly put down now.
Unfortunately I'm still can't get my picture from 'my pictures' to my profile - avitar, I've tried everything. I never used to have a problem with 'pictures' like this before! I get annoyed with myself making stupid mistakes like this.

If you send me the picture you want as an avatar, I can edit your profile and add it for you. You know my email address.

Thanks Gaieus
Somehow, imperical testing, (makes me sound clever than 'Suck it and see'), I managed to;1 - reduce the picture in size, and 2 - get it to where I intended. Don't ask me how because I don't know I did it this time. Wait until the next mess I get myself into.John

Those SketchUp carpenters are much cleverer than you might think. This one has some other techniques for laying floorboards:

If you're a newbie, go straight to the hints.

Martin Rinehart,
Yes I am a newbie, It's a good pictorial you have shown me. It demonstrates what you can do 'thinking outside the box' to use the same tools for a completely different use. I have trouble with 'tunnel thinking' so people like yourself help me by steping back and come in a different angle. I just hope I can pull the "tunnel" down so making learning easier. Thanks very much.John
