I say take a martial arts class, a good way to stay fit and protected!

Personally I know a bit of Ninjustu, but my master encourage combining other martial arts into my training. So I also know a bit of kendo, jujustu, a bit of kung-fu here and there...
Too bad I dropped before mastery though, but even after I abandoned my training I still don't want to let myself go. I was too young to develop any muscles during training but a few exercises here and there, a few flying kicks and I feel good as new!

So if you want a different way of being fit-or at least your kids, sign up for a martial arts class. Take my word for it πŸ˜„

        Hi folks.

To stay in good shape, I go to the gym three times per week and I eat enough to feel good but not too much.

        Just ideas.

I'm a black belt in origami - well really I just crumple up my terrible layout printouts and chuck them in the bin - I then walk to the pub for several pints of that health drink Guinness - full of iron and ..... - makes me feel bloody good!!! Does this count as a fitness regime?

Oh Dermot-san I see you have mastered origami too, perhaps a we'll have a match in the future? πŸ˜›

Anyway, I'm not an expert but drinking is not very good for your health and neither is a lot of iron either. Taking a lot of iron is like eating a lot of spinach and getting a kidney stone, only if it was as comforting like that...

I dont think lots of iron is particularly detrimental and i know that in some cases it can even help (iron tablets are often prescribed to women with anaemia.) In summary: drink lots of guiness πŸ˜„

what about Falon dafa? you can easily compare simillar movements to Qi kong ones, they are verry powerful in my sight.

Its never too late to do Asian martial arts as they are ultimatly about form (kata), thus health, like beautiful Tai chi movement, or an old man in the park:-) Don't skip the credits at the end.

Hmm, even though I quit training I might do a little research on this...

                            Testimonial time:

Today is the first day in over a week I have been able to look through the forum. Last Sunday I was in a freaky accident -I tripped in a building and was struck by falling framing lumber that broke my left femur! I had surgery that night, got a metal rod inserted, stiched up and was sent home Wednesday. the last few days I have been hopping around on crutches but healing well. The point of this - this last few years I have been eating properly and exercising to ward off cardiac issues and to make my knees feel better. Four years ago I took off 40 pounds (18Kg)and have kept it off. The knees feel pretty good. The exercising has given me strength and endurance. With the broken leg I would be a basket case if I was not in descent shape. As it is, the medical physical therapy folks are very pleased with my speedy recovery route. It will be a while before I am "dancing with the stars" but will be quicker because of taking care of the old body.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Sounds like a pretty bad one. Hope it doesn't interefere with your planned trip to the Emerald Isle later in the year!

                                      Thanks Dermot,

We will have to take a rain check on the trip - we received notice that the reunion festivities were canceled because of University cutbacks, plus this leg may be healed by then but I have been assured I won't be up for the kind of walking good tourists like my wife and I would be doing. Just a setback - not really a cancellation!
