Well well well over 300 peeps but not 1 comment on the "maglev" project ....i suppose a no comment also says something....so moving on....
Here is the first step in my next project a General Electric E44 electric locomotive (my first) it receives it's power from overhead power lines -
Wonderful work Dolf, I don't know how you do it but I enjoy your creations. Thanks for posting them here

Creating the environment, setting the scene
-
Slow progress (to many distractions) here is the completed nose and tail ends of the loco
my target is to complete the loco by Saturday????????
-
Still working working here is the 80% completed pantograph setup
-
Wow all that stuff on the roof is impressive! How do you know all about it? Do you jump onto trains at night and take photos? Jks. Looking good!
-
Hi Swindle, no I'm not thsat brave but use photos and a lot of artistic license, here is the completed pantograph (note one arm deployed and one in the docked position)
-
Super, this is what I like, precision and function!
-
Very pedagogic!
-
Wow, nice work there DOlf.
Man, I would pay to have your patience. -
Thanks for the kind words chaps (i am blushing) ...
Here is the total progress so far ...11.7 Meg my laptop is groaning at the seams -
Thought i would be finished by now ...but still some way to go...
-
You should bevel some more edges if your laptop can handle it, its always a pain when you want to go further but your computer wont let you!
Those electrical wires on top are great that must have taken forever! You 'HAVE' to render this you know. -
Hi Liam thanks for the comment but you gotta believe that i would dearly like to detail the drivers cab etc but .......my laptop and i are an item
Getting there not to far to go now -
When I used to use my old PC to model I had the same problem I got around it by making the whole model in about 10 different files then assembled them like a jigsaw to render usually in another app. Its troublesome and takes a long time but it gives good results. Anyway models still look great keep it up!
-
Thanks Lian that is about the method that i am using at the moment but just in SU so my "Assembler File" starts to become rather unwieldy but it is still better than .......a lot of things ha ha
Sunday evening's contribution -
Getting ever closer to finishing, trouble now is every time I look at the model I see something more to add ....and the poly don't stop growing
-
As finished as it is going to be (gotta draw a line in the sand sometime) only thing that i will still do is "paint" it in some or other railroad's livery
Enjoy....From time to time i will post more detailed views of the loco, thanks for the support and encouragement
