For a moment I thought of buying one, assuming cpu compatibility, installing mobile windows (if mobile windows supports 1024X768). Hmm... but that still wouldn't get me a portable SU sketch pad. I think?

Indeed, the ipad should have had MacosX instead of IphoneOS.
Then we could run bootcamp on it and enjoy all our software through Windows, including Sketchup....
It would be awesome to use SU on your lap while on the sofa with just the use of a pen.Is Sketchup optimised for using it with a pen (or finger), by the way?

For a large organization, a wireless client connected to a server can appear as thought the application is "on the pad". Someone else could be connected in "view only", and both be communicating with the ipad's phone feature. Can it? Couldn't be too hard for the pad's gesture recognition interface (is this what its called?) to be translated to mouse movements and some basic display commands.
Only trouble is by the time you figure out all of this, MS and dell will introduce their own epad.

Another rumour that has now appeared, is that Apple may in fact be developing a more Mac-like tablet, that runs standard OSX;

It would make sense really, because Windows 7 already has touch technology built in to it, and the last thing Apple will want is Microsoft stealing their crown yet again.

They're obviously much cheaper than any Apple product; oh, wait, they're all around 3-5 times the price of an iPad. Gosh. And they run Windows; hmm, wonder if they can boot a decent OS?
And yes, I have tried several and they were all very nasty.
