Holding ctrl with click + drag
-
Hi, I just installed sketchup and plan on mastering it for the masonry design co I work for. I've run into an issue early on though. As I try to copy a line with the move/copy tool, holding ctrl and dragging the desired line is met with a 'right click' cursor menu instead. Is there an alternative command for this function? Thanks. I'm running version 7 on a mac

Hi Hunter an welcome, first of all.
In the Move-Copy process, you do not need to keep the Ctrl key pressed - it is a "toggle key", so when you "hit" it, the Move tool will change into a "Move-Copy" tool until you press it again.

Hmm, my ctrl key doesn't toggle the move/copy tool. This might be one of those unfortunate glitches.

Well, I see you are on the Mac. Check this reference (not as if it were perfect as it is talking about a command key in Windows but still...)
So it says the "Option key" on the Mac.

Hey, now that's better. The guide I'm using states to use the ctrl key. Thanks for the help.. I'll be around again soon

Is that guide not for Windows users by any chance? Here is the "old guide" for the Mac (back until SU 6, the two guides were separate so might be more straightforward to screen out the info):
