SketchUp export to iMovie?
-
I'm trying to render an animation from SU, to iMovie, but iMovie isn't recognising the .MOV file, which it should, right? Anyone used both applications, or am I the first?
I've already made a small render at 24fps, so you would think that this may work. But it doesn't. hmm...
Any suggestions anyone?

Got it to work. SketchUp's frame rate MUST be set at its highest setting (29.5fps), in order for iMovie to recognise the .mov Quicktime file. This makes sense really- from an Apple perspective, because Apple would want their product to be seen in the best light? Don't know about AVI files? I suppose this would be the same??

A shame that Google don't apply the same principle, as what SU spits out in export mode is pretty grubby. It looks like the screen resolution sits at 72 (or 96?) dpi, and there is no option to budge. That's a real shame Google. I really hope that you improve this in SU8.

The way to get nice movies out of SU is to export .pngs instead of .mov. And set the resolution up by 2x the final desired size. then use Quicktime Pro to assemble all the images into a .mov and set hte size how you want it, and export (and yes I do have to ignore my conscience every time I use QT pro ). That will make a high quality movie.
