Slow moving programme
-
Hello and welcome!
There are quite a few component in the warehouse that are very heavy and slow SU down considerably. What components did you insert into your file?
-
Well, I don't know (this doesn't sound to be too complex). What are the stats of your model? See Window > Model info > Statistics and make sure nested components is checked.
Also, are there too heavy images among your textures? -
Hi
Thanks for your reply!
It was a construction I beam from the online 3d warehouse...?
What can I do to make it move quicker? -
Stas: edges 280351... so I presume thats my problem...too many edges in the components which Ive duplicated in the model?
-
Well, that's not a small number but I have models with edges exceeding a million.
Can you put your parts you don't currently work on onto layers that you can hide? Also turn off shadows. -
yeah ive cleared as many layers as possible or combined them,I actually only have 9 layers now. But it seems to be that the layer with the grouped components kills the model
-
And what is the file size?
Also, are these components nested in several levels deep? -
the file size is 3.21 MB. I think I may have copied the component out several times then grouped them. I suppose the best thing to do is explode the whole lot of them and remake them 1 large component? as opposed to a component of any components?
-
No, keep the components components. Maybe you do not need them grouped (you can explode that group) but that should not really cause this either.
Have a look at this hardware spped test:

what results do you get? -
Results are:
72 frames displayed in 6.061 seconds
average frame 0.084 seconds
11.9 frames a second....? -
Well, those were kind of average results until SU 7.1 came out. Then this started to be the case:

-
i think the video card is 1gb and the system is 283 gb, 64 bit windows vista and 4gb of ram as far as I can remember. It wont allow me download that file, i dont have enough privilages apparently?
-
You should be able to download it. What is the card brand and the processor speed?
