Rounded corner solid from AutoCAD not looking so well
-
Hello all, this morning I brought in a solid from AutoCAD with rounded corners. It looked fine until I took a closer look and saw that the rounded corners did not have faces. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance -
Glenn, it looks like not all of those lines are straight- ie the resolution in ACAD may be set too high. It may also be better to import the solids without the fillets on the edges, and then do those in SU (there's a good plug in for that floating around out there). Sorry for not being more specific, I'm having a bad memory day

Thanks for the reply, yeah I thought about doing the edges in SU but it is really easy in ACAD. I might have to go that route.

Glenn, have you tried ViaCAD 2D/3D also? It only costs $99, and is ACIS based, so works well with the 3D section of ACAD. This may be a better solution. SketchUp I find, works better with 2D imports.

Glenn,
I would guess that the corner faces are too small for the SU importer to be able to fill them when importing. The quick-and-dirty solution would be to import the file to a larger scale than intended (in Meters or centimeters instead of millimeters, or Feet instead of Inches) and then to scale the object back inside SU. Of course it would be better to make a coarser model in AutoCad.

Thanks Anssi, that's a very good idea. Let me try this. Thanks again to all who offered help
