Just want to put a little blurb out about the latest Twilight release!

Announcing our next release, version 1.1!!

The big new features we've added:

    Several languages available:

    • Spanish
      • French
      • Chinese (simplified and traditional)
      • Japanese
      • German

You can choose your language from Options -> Twilight Languages.
A huge thanks to all those who helped put those translations together!!!

    A new View-and-Framing Tool:

    * Frames exactly what will be rendered and adds guide lines to aid composition
    * Condenses pan, orbit and look around functions into one handy tool
    * Allows you to accurately set the focus distance without reorienting the camera

This replaces two previous features: The "letterboxing" seen when you uncheck the 'Fixed Aspect Ratio' checkbox, and the "Set Camera Target" context menu choice. You are no longer limited to 'focusing' only on objects in the center of the view. Orbit around the 'highlighted' geometry point instead of some mystery point. All action is done with the left mouse button, leaving the middle mouse button available for the traditional SketchUp orbit tool.

And a lot more fixes and features

New Licensing Mechanism (Don't worry, your existing license is still fine!!)
    Projector Lights image improvements
    Material editor improvements
SSS material template has been redone to give dramatically better results.
Layers in components are rendered as they are visible, by default. You can choose to render "All Layers" from the context menu.
Transparency of TGA images is now directly recognized.
    Save rendered images as EXR
    And More!

      Sounds excellent.

What I like is my SSS thread got y'all to optimise your engine to facilitate, always great to know the developers are watching, learning and improving their products.

It would be better to do the celebrations and discussion of new stuff in the proper place instead of here πŸ˜‰ :

This is a bit OT, but I downloaded the demo and gave SU/Twilight a shot. Slick & easy interface. One question that's bugging me; I noticed several folks used twilight to render in the "Render This :SSS" thread, and came up with smooth surfaces. I rendered a cube & sphere similar to the ones in the thread and wound up with a very faceted sphere, even with SD&S applied to it. I'm used to Kerkythea where I just select the material and tell it "smooth", what's the secret in TW?

That happens from time to time; it's simply weird. Usually solved by just grouping the geometry or ticking "weld vertices" in the material editor. Of course, you'll get better replies from the tech support guys (Fletch, Chris and Frederik) if you post in the TWL forum.

Yes, download the demo. it worked for me.

I was confused with that too... I think the website should be clearer about how updates are obtained and installed

I will make sure that we do it better in the future... πŸ˜‰

Although Chris posted this announcement here at the SCF, I recommend that users always search about things on the TWR Forum ...
Posts here at the SCF should be seen as a service, similar to how other applications are posting such announcements...

Please see the Version 1.1 thread... πŸ˜„

Are you still running the very first version by any chance? i remember having a similar problem after my first upgrade (to a maintenance release.)

You can easily get another license through the usual method by the way, its just a bit of a faff.

I can only assume that you didn't have the latest version (ver. 1.0.19)
                                      installed... 😐

Any way... Unless you're installing TWR on another computer or have upgraded the OS, you can simply use and install the license key you've received previously... πŸ˜‰
(If you haven't got this anymore, you need to request a new license key...)

Chango, I can easily see the reason in your OS info: You're running Vista 64-bit and according to the new version announcement, those running Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit might have to re-request their licenses only if they never upgraded to TWL 1.0.19 (which introduced a change in licensing for 64-bit OSs), which seems to be your case.

BTW, has anyone noticed this is already the fourth TWL release? You should check the forum more often, TWL moves really fast. πŸ‘

I downloaded and installed but when I went to the TW Options/About menu it still reads version 1.0. Am I doing something wrong here?

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy
