Omni-Directional Treadmill

Pretty impressive how quickly it responds to changes in direction.

Very cool gizmo, what I do not understand is in the top statement it mentions it's use in architecture...how? (virtual walk throughs?)
The good thing is we may have found a way to keep our kids in shape and still keeping them in front of a TV.

It's a trap!

i'm not convinced the room isn't moving around him and the floor staying stationary.

When I saw the thread name I actually expected something like a giant trackball sunk under the floor.

They could have solved world hunger insteadHey who knows, it may lead to solving that problem in some unexpected way, who would have thought that moldy bread would create something that ended up saving untold millions.
But anyway, it would be cool to walk inside 3d buildings or in Google earth with that

I know, I know...
BUT, when someone invented the 'laser' it had no use... BUT it could be used for lots of things, as we have discovered later on... however, I suspect that a 2D [a normal one is 1D !] treadmill is not going to be in the same league as the the 'laser'... even a 3D treadmill would be better...

I'd imagine the running costs will be pretty expensive....it needs sixteen Japanese underneath just to move it around...like with the screen cursor. http://www.berro.com/joke/screen_cursor.htm
