You could take some garden textures or even low poly plants and patch them to a large surface using pinwheel tiling and SU components.

Edson, for a full wall it will be very hard to use actual geometry, so maybe an alpha plane .png image can be used slightly project away from wall surface.
If you are planning to use close ups then I'd suggest a combination of .png images for mid to backgrounds and real ivy for close ups.Here is an image of how the close up mesh could possibly look.

Edson I used Vue to create a billboard of the 3D mesh, it's large size so if you use it feel free to reduce it in PS.

Perhaps some ruby guru will get a inspiration of this. Pinwheel tiling has been used in the architecture.

I've done some work for Fytogreen who make vertical gardens here in Australia.
I did these two a couple of years ago, I could probly do better now.
As mentioned the poly count gets unmanageable, wall.jpg shows native su with component plants rotated, not very realistic. And almost too much for my puter.
For the second job I built each group of plants separately, exported them at hi-res with transparency and used them as textures on the bald model.
It was a pain but the final result was acceptable. (these first two subsequently had a bit of work done on them to remove seams etc, these pics are straight su output)

Wow, did you apply these plants with the Component Spray while in an horizontal position? Hey, Edson, you could do the same! rotate your project, spray some plants, and then rotate the project again.

Unfortunately not, I'm not sure that the ruby was around when I did these.
So each planted was scaled a few times and dotted around, I should have put more effort into the ferns to stop them appearing so uniform but deadlines, etc... -
Here's my try at a vertical garden..
I think it is a wonderful idea and can't wait to use it in a project.
