When rendering the inside of a room it is sometimes a challenge to place the camera properly.

If your renderer supports section planes, you can create realistic renderings of the room itself with a camera position outside of the room.

(from another forum where this tip was listed)

      Very useful tip

Thanks - we've been putting out these rendering tips for several weeks - and have not had a single comment (positive or negative) until now.

We are trying to keep the tips themselves fairly neutral. That is, they are not tips on how to use a specific rendering engine, but tips on rendering in general. Next weeks tip may seem obvious - adding reflective properties to materials such as tile or wood - but it may not be so obvious for someone new to rendering.

The rest or you. What do you think? Are there tips useful? Do you have any ideas for additional tips?

        Hi Al,

I would really appreciate these tips....so please keep posting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Have I mentioned how much of a laugh I get out of some of the Signatures on here!

Good tip, I currently use SU's layers, and scenes so that I can recall a specific setup. Scene one has part of the model on a layer that is off. Scene 2 has all of the models layers on. This way I can work on the whole model in scene two, then return to scene 1 and render.

Hmm... Guess I don't use SU layers to isolate design elements much, mostly scenes, components, and groups. But in my CAD app, I use blocks (components), layers, and occassionally scenes. Wounder why that is.....

That's a good tip in itself - use scenes to isolate geometry. I'll add it to the list as a future tip if you don't mind my borrowing your idea.

Hi Al, Don't think twice about it. Speaking for myself, I think that the only things we really need to be consider giving credit to, is ruby code.
