Looking for a tutorial for drawing a flower

I'm so new to this 3d graphics
I think you should first try modeling simpler things before attempting to model a flower. First stop, the video tutorials:
http://sketchup.google.com/training/videos/new_to_gsu.htmlOn second thought, I don't think SketchUp is the best program for modeling flowers. It was created for modeling buildings. Some of the things you see in the 3D warehouse were actually modeled in another program and then converted to SketchUp. You might want to try other options, such as Z-brush, MOI, Blender, etc.

Here are a couple links to help you model irregular surfaces in sketchup:

Wow, Johnny, that's really good...thanks for your ideas!

Thanks for doing the Tut Jean. Hey! you 'squeezed' a lot of petals in there

thanks you for the tut. I now have some reading to do to figure out how to do each of these steps. It will take me a bit but to get my flower done but now I at least know the proper sequence.
thanks ever so much

Just an observation here. I tried to download Jean Lemire's flower.skp
I cannot open it, because it requires Sketchup 7.1
I do not currently have 7.1
This may be a difficulty for others, also. -

SU 7.0 should open SU 7.1 files just fine. I've "downgraded" the file above to version 6 however.

Hi Gaieus, hi folks.
Thanks, I am so used with SU 7 now that I have forgotten that some peoples are still using SU 6.
Best regards.

Thanks Jean,
I love your modeling tutorials. It's like being a small kid again, watching as my father started to shape something out of a small piece of wood or tin, wondering what it would become, and usually it became something totally unexpected...
