      First,
Very pleased with the performance increase...especially with a old 108mb file I tested and SU 7.1 behaved quite nicely.
Also very pleased to see dimensioning in LO.

      So my Q,
I am experiencing shadows dropping out between scenes, and immediately if I orbit the model or initiate any other command.
This is fine and I can get used to this.[the drop of shadows on orbit I mean]

More clearly, I have 2 identical scenes except for the time of day, when I toggle from first scene, say 8:00 am to 2nd scene, say 4:30pm the shadows go away untill the transition is complete.
IOW, no active shadow study while transitioning between scenes.
I have exported to avi and the shadows do present in all frames of a video.

      My hardware maybe?
      Specs:
      Dell
      XPS M1730, Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000(2.8GHz, 800Mhz 6M L2 Cache)
NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3
      4GB, DDR2, 667MHz
      320GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
      OS: XP Pro SP3

      Anyone else experience this.
FYI I have fussed with open GL settings etc with no change.

      Best,
      C

Its done on purpose to speed up the rendering of your model. SU drops certain elements then redraws them when you dont move the display for a set period of time.

Another thought: if you dont want it to do that, try putting this Sketchup.full_detail_render_delay_min=0.0 in to the ruby console. Havent tested it, but it should work.

            Remus,
Thanks for the quick reply, I am not surprised by your answer, just hoping to have all the cake....... :~)

The script I will try for my machine, but was hoping to send a very simple shadow study to a client.

Unless that will go with the file? [I am significantly Ruby challenged, among other things]

            Thanks lots,
            C

unfortunately i think that setting is only persistent on your machine and isnt transferable with the model. If your client hasnt upgraded though you may still be in luck.

                Remus,

Ruby line you graciously wrote did not seem to work.
Though I did say I am Ruby challenged,
I pasted the code in the ruby console and hit enter, it appears as I believe it should without errors.
Though I notice no change in the model scene transitions.

It's ok, I'll just work it out with an AVI, or if with the client just use SU V6.
                EDIT:
I can of course just use the shadow slider & or instruct the client to do the same.

                Thanks so much,
