      Hi Guys,

I've dropped my iPhone a couple of times, even onto footpaths. It's suffered minor dents but allis still working fine.

The reason I do not have one of those rubber protection sleeves is because they look horrible and are bulky. I like to slot the iPhone into my shirt pocket.

It now looks like there could be a solution to protect against even big drops using a D3O compound. Check out the video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4uMTZWh0Rc

The company making this 'band' is Tech21 http://www.tech21.uk.com/innovation.html It currently costs £20, altought I can see the price dropping over time.

      Mike

Looks interesting, but throwing around an iPhone is a bad way to prove your point. The G forces of impact are still going to be high, a few millimeters of compound cannot magically disperse all that energy.

That said, it's a nice clean looking cover and I bet it would do a good job of protecting your phone against everyday abuse.

As a side note, I got my wife a thin silicone cover for her iPhone (she's notorious for breaking phones, 3 in the last couple of years) that came with an adhesive screen protector - the cover is quite thin, only 1.5-2 mm thick, but it has done a fine job of protecting the phone. I don't like those other protectors that look like tire treads, and neither does she. It would easily allow the phone to be thrown in a shirt pocket. Got it at the Apple store. I guess go with whatever is affordable and/or makes you happy.

Must admit my iPhone has seen better days and i had a protective cover on it. But i found all sorts of crud tends to gather inside the the sleeves( obviously that means i've alot of crud in my pockets!!! )

Here's the sleeve i used to have on
