I have a Logitech MX Revolution mouse and when I first installed sketchup it worked great... I could use the back thumb button and it would pull up the orbit tool, and then when I clicked on the left button at the same time it would pull up the pan tool.

For some reason it doesn't do any of that now... I haven't changed anything. I did install the driver for the mouse, but I am not sure how to set up all the functions. Can anyone who has had this problem or has set up this mouse give me a little hint on how to go about setting up the mouse, or at least how they have it set up. It was amazing when I could use those three tools without touching the keyboard.

      Thanks in advance!

There should be an icon on your taskbar for the MX.

Right click on it and select "Mouse and Keyboard Settings".

There is no MX icon in the task bar... but I got into the configure settings through system preferences. This is where I can't get the settings correct. I add sketchup as a new program so I can just use specific actions for just SU. I am able to get the orbit tool to work with the thumb back button... but it is nothing like when I first plugged in the mouse and had nothing installed for it. I was able to hit the thumb back button and that brought up orbit... then with the thumb back button clicked I would also hit the left button and that would bring up the pan tool... it was set up perfect. This is what I would like to be able to do again... help please!!

          Thank you

Hi there, I'm also using an MX Rev. the way I've configured it was making specifical keyboard assignments
for my MX, for example i gave the search button the 'O' configuration, that would pop up the Orbit tool,
and to make these shortcuts to work you can easily change them in SU under 'Preferences -> Shortcuts'
            Hope this helps.

            Cheers,
            Roevens Johannes

Thank you for the help so far... this has made things a little easier.

Although this is still confusing to me, cause when I didn't set anything up and just plugged in my mouse (didn't even install the logitech driver) I was able to right click and the orbit tool would come up and also work when the right button was clicked. I didn't have to click the right then the left to get it to actually work. it was very simple it was almost like hitting shift when using the orbit tool and it brings up the pan tool until you let go of shift.

This is what I am trying to get back too, it was like heaven.

              please anyone.

I was able to get the middle button to work on a push-to-orbit basis by opening the Logitech settings window, finding the setup for the middle button, and setting it to "Other" and choosing "Middle Button" in the popup window. I assume this sets it to just send the standard middle button message without any other function, and that's what SketchUp is looking for.
