      Has anyone come across a good tutorial on creating and scaling textures for sketchup? By scaling I mean being able to associated a size with a texture swatch (so that a brick is the standard brick size...). I'm skinning my models and want to use actual images of doors and windows.

        I think the easiest way is to know how big your image should be in world coordinates, and then specify that size in the material editor in Sketchup. So if you make a brick swatch that is supposed to be 1m x 1m worth of bricks, then when you bring it into SU, scale the image to that size. And then its set correctly each time you use that material from then on.

        I could go into more detail with a video or something if that would help.

        Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

          If you have a door image for instance and know the exact dimensions of that door,

          1. make a simple rectangle of the exact size in SU;
          2. import the image as material (see this option at the bottom right of the import window)
          3. apply it to the face you've prepared by scaling it while applying to fit the whole face
            and voilá; you're done. Your texture will appear with the correct dimensions under the "In model" tab in your material browser and you can simply drag and drop it into any collection in your secondary window for later use.
