Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
-
absolutely mindblowing, once again, silvershadow!
have been away from the forum for quite a while (involuntarily of course). and now I am back - and here it is, your third, long anticipated Eye Candy! such a incredible amount of detail. stunning. although I also think you can do even better renderings, when going a bit closer, so one can behold the high level of detail...
by the way. do you know, when it will be possible do download your models again? do we have to wait until august? or are there maybe some resources left at the scf server, Coen? can't wait to lay my hands on these models
-
I could put it on my ftp. If you are interested silvershadow, I can give you an ftp login. Once uploaded, it has a standard url for download.

dear Silvercandy, if you don't bother let me know what is your machine property plz, and how much is the file size? does your machine works smooth with that file and doesn;t jump out or crashes?
-
The detail on this model is simply insane!!!! If you actually textured the rest of that thing, you would definitely need to split it into a thousand layers.

i bought this cool plugin, scene exporter, and this allowed me to set up a main model, and the made 3 separate files with portions of the model in.
what plugin was this? I use the same workflow in other apps so being able to do so in SU....

this plugin is a simple plugin you buy at http://www.smustard.com/script/PageExIm
I took my model with everything in it, set up the scenes i would like. Made 3 files for example, and copied the parts into that to make the model smaller. So then i have 3 files all containing parts of the model, and with this plugin i just import my scenes to them. Because its smaller file sizes and less detail, it can be rendered bigger in vray without crashing. -
thanx for descriptions mate

Is it possible to see these images somewhere else? All I see here is icons saying "bandwidth exceeded".
Thanks, Peter

we are working on this issue, thanx for the notify.

Hello Silver_Shadow
I can not download your files, is there a problem due to your files? -
These are now visible to me, and this deserves a bump! The modeling is incredible and all the images are just beautiful. Just as I expected, but still... congratulations and many thanks for posting, SS. I appreciate the background information and your opening comments.

Hi Jacques,
Here is the current "official" 3D Challenge; Battleship. I know you won't do that but I guess if you participated, you'd have a good chance to win.

He silver shadow,
thanks for the tut about the model. But i'm very curious how you exactly made the texture for this one. Could you make a small tut about this???Hi there
How i made that hull texture. I exported the hull in 3ds format, imported it into cinema 4d. Created a UV map of the mesh, and saved the texture as a photoshop file. Opened it in photoshop, and start painting. As i paint and save, it updates in Cinema 4d. Once i was happy, i saved the photoshop file as a jpg. Exported the cinema 4d file back to 3ds mode and imported it into sketchup. Becasue i wanted a higher resolution texture, and to keep my sketchup file not to fall apart, i saved a low resolution of the texture, with a smaller pixel size say like 1025x1025 and replaced that on the model. When i render the final shot, i just went and in the Vray material section, add the original higher resolution texture to the diffuse tab and pressed render. There are different ways to approach this to uv map ect, but in that time, i thought that was not to too hard to do that and gave it a shot. -
I've got just one thing to say: "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy"
Meanwhile, I saw your other models too. This was actually the reason why I hesitated so long to post some of my own attempts on the forum (The blackhawk was my first encounter with your work). I was a little ashamed about the amateurism of my models.
Anyway, keep posting man. You're work is fantastic, mindblowing, ... (fill in your own superlative)

This is very enlightening. Many thanks to Jacques for creating this tutorial!
Now all I need is a tutorial on how to be a genius and I can model like that too.

Ohh my good! I relay want your water to my models! The texture and.... everything looks realistic! Just got problems to make water like that, so it end with flat bad textured water...
Great work with the ship! Its not many users out in the world who models ships.
