I put together this quick tutorial for some landscape designers on another site to be able to make a curved running bond walkway in sketchup. It's pretty basic modeling stuff and a good overview of how the shape bender plugin works. Good for Beginners.

I am having an impossible time trying to upload this video to my vimeo account, so I've uploaded to rapishare instead. If someone has the time to upload the video for me, that would be great as the download may take some time for people. Tutorial is a .wmv file, around 30MB, 10 minutes long and has audio commentary.

thanks, adam. this is a very good tutorial. it would be great if you had shown the last part in full (the one on Random Painter). perhaps you could do a follow-up with this.

Thanks Edson. I intended to show the random painter, but I had to uninstall the wXSU plugin that is required to get the color selector. It caused my SU to become unstable and crash constantly. Chris has a version of the plugin that doesn't use wxsu, but it requires numeric RGB values to be manually entered......and I didn't have the values in front of me when I was doing the tutorial. Perhaps I can do a quick follow up tutorial if it's desired.

A quick 3 minute tutorial as a follow up to the previous one. This one demonstrates using Chris Fullmer's random painter plugin to color the brick pavers on the previously constructed walkway in varying color tones. Hopefully Chris's script will one day support random textures and not just random colors and this will save a step in this process. This would also be a good technique for a adding realism to a natural stone patio.

I also forgot to mention in the video, that I found it is best to paint the faces prior to bending, as if you do it after the bend, you will get some stones with more than one color on them.

Vimeo is still freezing when I upload, so unfortunately I had to go with rapidshare again. Sorry about that.
