FreeMind - free 'mind mapping' tool
-
FreeMind (open source project) helps me a lot with storing some useful information.
Below I have shown an exaple of a AutoCAD related mindmap.
At work I have a map of all projects I am involved in, with all project folders, links to certain files (floorplans, elevations, SU models of course ). All data can be clearly and hierarchically organized! It is really handy when you have to jump from one project to another.
Here is a link to a download page.
I am using 0.9 beta20 and strongly recommend downloading this version or higher if available.
I can share Autocad map if anyone interested.
Take care

Thanks for that link Tomasz. That app looks to be free / donation?
I have been looking at a similar app http://www.thebrain.com/#-42.

There is a free version, but there is only one download. Download full version for a 30 day trial, after that it becomes the free version. I really like this program.

I've been using FreeMind for awhile and I like it too.

I have tried it as well - free version, but it was too 'flashy'. I didn't like all the movement on a screen. It was making me sick and didn't help to visualize a whole map.
Freemind gives me very simple and clean solution. Minimalistic graphic appearance is a plus for me.
You can export the map to html, javascript or flash. It is multi-platform - written in Java - you can share your maps with everyone. What I would like to see in a future - an option to edit an map in a network by several people at a time.Tomasz

May I ask what you were trying to achieve with the AutoCAD map?
We've just upgraded & I'm thinking of ways to get across the subtlities of the various *LTSCALES to the troops.

Hi JGA,
Sorry for coming late with an answer. I have forgotten about this section of the forumI have prepared the attached Autocad.mm FreeMind Map for my personal use. It worked for me as a memo note with all ACAD commands and tricks logicaly connected. Then I realized that I can easily share it with my fellow workers so I have exported it as a Flash and saved on our company server to make it easily accessible.

Tomasz thank you so much for bringing Freemind to my attention.
I'd started using it for project planning and very soon started using it for EVERYTHING.
I don't know how I managed without it.
Again, many thanks. -
Try Mindomo (very easy and design) (free of course)
A friend of mine Shadows has made a cool one about 3D programs
(in French but even very informative and practical
