I use SketchUp, HyperShot and now modo. They all have different commands for orbit, pan, zoom, etc. Wouldn't it be great if there was a universal standard? I know it's impossible for many reasons but it can drive me crazy in the middle of the day to find that my model isn't orbiting in modo because I'm using the command from HyperShot. Or vice versa. I was doing Alt LMB in SketchUp a minute ago (I'm tired - the day is long) and I was completely confused as to why nothing was moving! That's orbit in modo!

    Just a rant.

The same with many other things (and MMB) with some SU addicts here:

Oh God, we're all stumbling around in confusion in alternate computer worlds of our own making! Like thomthom I hate the fact that I can't orbit my emails or text documents! It's so limiting.

Maybe it's time for bed. But after your comment of trying to orbit your girlfriend in your dreams - maybe even that's not safe.

Ditto. Drives me crazy to move from SU to Kerkythea or Blender and the selection of objects and manipulation of the scene is completely different. 😐

I wish I would have the time and stamina to learn 3DSMax, and just use that software for all my 3D needs 😞

Much sympathy here. My must frustrating moment is when I use shift+middle mouse button click to try and pan in AutoCad. That's the command to pan is SU but in AutoCad it's the command to orbit. On a large AutoCad file I end up waiting for 2 minutes + for it to stop thinking before I can correct my mistake. 😠
