Just wondering if there is a way i can create a subscription rule to email notify me of new threads 'by author'. I try to get to SCF as often as possible but I inevitably miss some of the great script posts by the generous 'ruby nuts' that frequent the bar.....

Would be a great addition if not already available..... πŸ‘

Hmm, I just aded you as a Friend to see if it would give me any options like that. I didn't see anything.

But I guess if you add friends, you could then quickly use your friends list to go to those people's prfiles and list their recent posts or threads started by them.

I know it is nothing as useful as what you requested (which is a GREAT idea!), but it might help?

Subscribing to the ruby forum might do what you want, although you'll probably get a fair amount of 'chaff' in with the script posts.

The link for subscribing to a forum is at the very bottom left of each forum.

Hey, maybe subscribe to the entire ruby forum, then use your filter in your email client to filter out ones that are not from the authors you want. Or more likely, have a filter that sends the correct authors to your inbox and all other ones to the trash. Do you have an email service/client that would allow that type of filtering?

If the author follow the norm of adding [plugin] to their post titles you can save an advanced search. Like the link to my plugins in my signature.

                Thanks Guys,
Chris - I wasn't aware we could add friends... [Gee, watch out facebook!!!] Filtering out email addresses sounds like the long way around...
Remus - already subscribe to the entire Ruby forum but as you say, a lot of 'guff' comes with it...

As with PPB forum, it would be good to be able to search 'by title' and also 'by author'... that way we could type in [plugin] and the author you want to follow....

Thomas, not a bad idea!!! πŸ‘

                  Andrew,

In the advanced search (top right), you can always narrow your search to certain keywords - like plugin - as well as author, first post of a topic, topic title etc.

OR use the RSS feed in the Ruby forum. If you go to the ruby forum and pres the RSS button, it will allow you to subscribe to "latest posts" AND/OR latest topics. Filtering the latest topics subscription should allow you to see if there's anew plugin there.

                  Gai...
