      Hi evrybody,

It`s very easy and a pleasure to me to draw this in SKU, but
because its difficult to work with more than 1 million faces models,
i try to going to 3DMax for rendering architecturals drawings

Here i left my salon architetural model that i do in sku,
it have differents layers and materials and it have grouped in differents parts.

HAS ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO PROPERTLY EXPORT-IMPORT THIS INSIDE 3DMAX?

I trying bombing all groups, creating layers from material, matching layer from material
and grouping by texture to finaly export by .3ds file, but seem to be not good to me
(because i haven´t arrive to get the textures inside 3dmax)

I will apreciate if we can do a good tutorial here!

      Thanks

Here you go, I used Deep exploration, converted to .max version 9.

          Ja! very tricky,
seems to works ok and its easy to add others component/files to the scene before convert to max, thanks Solo.

Any way if somebody know another method, you're welcome.

you could use the blender method and export it as google earth, unzip it by renaming it as .zip then import the .dae inside into blender as collada. Does this method retain textures?

i try it, make kmz, unzip and open .dae but i couldn't import the material images.

i try also with fbx sku export and 3dmax import, but it wasn't good.

so, deep exploration rest as the best conversion i tried.

When trying to get something to 3ds format, always keep in mind that it's an archaic format and thus behaves so. With your images you have to make sure that the names

                • do not contain any non-English characters (even space)

                • are no longer that 8 characters - plus 3 for the extension (like jpg instead of jpeg)
Furthermore, when modelling in SU, you always have to keep in mind that materials applied to back faces will simply be ignored upon export to 3ds so

                • always make sure to have front faces "otside" (i.e. whenever you see a bluish face in your model, it's wrong).
Since newer kmz files can now "override" thee conventions, it is not always apparent first that you are doing something wrong (with the GE 3 kmz file format for instance, materials on back faces did not show up either).

                Gai...

It's like hard work, rumor has it that it pays, but I'm yet to try it. 😉

Well, when I needed to export to 3ds, we were to retexture everything there so I could go with the SU exporter with welded vertices and just show the SU material as a rough example. Can I say I am lucky? 😉

                        DE is kind of pricy...
