    Hi Guys,

I note from a personal email that there is a new LightUp Release, v1.4

The items of interest are as follows,

**There's a new demo of LightUp available! Many, many improvements including the much requested drawing of BOTH sides of your model so you don't need to change anything and still be able to get realtime lighting and generate Stills & Movies instantly.

    Changes from v1.3:

    • Lights and draws BOTH sides of Sketchup faces.
    • Improved exporting FBX to other modellers
    • TIFF Still images store alpha component
    • Handles "Always face camera" Component attributes (eg Sang)
    • Parallel & Perspective projection cameras
    • SSE & Altivec vectorization for better performance
    • AVI files larger than 1GB broken into segments
    • Allow Scene animation during recording
    • Bug fixes for running on SU6
    • Simple constant ambient mode for quick fill-in
    • Draws IES photometric web with QueryTool
    • Better handling graphics cards
    • Pivot camera in Tourtool by holding down Alt

NB You'll be provided with a new Registration key for the new demo.**

I'm looking forward to revisiting LightUp after checking out these improvements.

    Mike

Looks good! I didn't take LightUp seriously in the past because of some limitations that are now solved. This merits a second look...

Is the light-up website broken? or is that just a bad link?

Yup, the site is down. Perhaps we all rushing at the same time used up all of his daily bandwidth. But I managed to get my license before it happened ๐Ÿ˜‰

Another lil' test, this time with a model from the Google 3D Warehouse. I have the feeling that LightUp is better suited for cars, robots and other shiny things. The less flat faces your model has, the better it looks when you apply specularity in LightUp.

[Hey thanks Mike for posting that Announcement for LightUp v1.4]

Yes, the website was down for a few hours partly due to a lot of people downloading.

Its now back up and you should be able to get the latest version.

Cool vid. It may be my internet connection but the video won't play smoothly for me yet I know LightUp records movies at 30Hz.

Totally cool movie. Did you use the Image-based lighting to get the shading like that?

                            Good work Adam !
                            Downloading now....

@Ecuadorian, That transformer movie looks very good. It is funny how much better an animation looks just by recording viewport movement instead of using the classic scene tab animations.

Yes, both videos have HDR backgrounds, but the Great Wall video uses the SketchUp sun, too.
