SU available in 12 languages ?
-
Hi folks.
I dont know if this should go into the bug subforum but, since it do not concern the working of SU, I prefer to place it here.
The latest SketchUpdate mention that SU is availiable in a dozen language.
I though that they finally corrected the automatic language switching on their site.
I eagerly clicked on the French link to discover that all I could do was to download SU 6 in French.
I am back to square one as of four months ago after SU 7 launch.
I am curious to know if anyone has been able to download SU 7 in a different language.
I dont mind at all using SU in English as long as I am able to download it. I myself have it already but if I am to convince some work colleagues to get it, they should, at least, have access to it, and using a normal and legal way, on the Google SketchUp site.
Best regards.

While it understandable that sites want to implement regional settings and differences, I think its a complete mistake to make it so that users can't access whatever region they want. That they don't let you get to English is a mistake on their part....... Hey Google Web-dev's, fix it already.

I second this. With any software I prefer to run with English language. When it comes to the point that I need some help with the software it's very easy just to Google the problem in English. Results in Norwegian are often sparse.

In Italy the situation is the same. I teach sketchup to my friends every once in a while: when we get to plugins it's always a problem, because they are all in English

Apart from being sparse, results in Finnish are often mistranslated too... Or then they are in a language that sounds like Finnish but that no living being has ever spoken. (Windows error messages, Word and Excel menus...AAaaaaarrrrgh...)

So this happens in other languages too
I have always fought with the italian version of autocad: while in university i learnt the english version first (because I know english) then was forced to get the italian version (because all the other fellow students were using that, and I found I had to re-learn all the shortcuts) and eventually.... I gave up autocad altogether

Aaarrh! Don't get me started on software translation where the muppet of a translator has simply translated each word separately instead of translating the meaning. ...ok, you just did...

I cannot agree more! Most of the programs I use are in English and once in a while, when I encounter a "translated" version of say Gimp (or such), I am totally lame at using it. I must thank Google they found the Hungarian market small enough not to translate SU into Hungarian (yet?). (OR if they are thinking of it, get me to do it - for good money of course yet I think I'd use the English version even then.)
