Lost all my models
-
Hello all,
Just hoping someone might be able to help me.
I am a noob when it comes to using sketchup and I exported a heap of models out to kmz files. I didnt know that I wouldnt be able to open them again with sketchup nor that exporting them to kmz is not the 3d warehouse. Anyways, I really dont want to have to make them all again and was wondering whether there is a way to reopen them with sketchup again?
Plz help!

BUT if you exported your models, it doesn't mean that you have lost them! If you have the skp files saved (do you?) You should be able to open them with SU.

Maybe something like that
With Blender import KMZ file (with a Python script for reload KMZ file (kmz3)
Then export as 3DS format
Then reload it in SU
Maybe all files will be not re save (depending of the complexity)or the same but with collada format
(kmz4)

Thanks for the quick reply, but which python version do I download for the kmz import extension? I downloaded a version of python but it doesnt have the kmz extension as an import option.Could you please post a link to the correct one?

Nah I didnt save them as skp files. I am a dumb bum and only exported them out but didnt save them. I am a complete tool!
Gee whiz I am a little out of my depth with this blender and python stuff....... It looks a little advanced for me.....

no it's very simple, I know nothing of Phyton!!!
Just Install Python, and the Python script inside the Blender folder Script!
The more difficult is to navigate into the Blender arborescence files because UI is some archaic -
I have Phyton 2.51 installed and that works fine
The Python script itself "KMZ_import..." must be inside the Blender folder Scripts! -

Plus it will probably not even result the "cleanest" SU model at the end...
